Shaftless Screw Conveyors
In wastewater treatment shaftless screw conveyors are commonly used for transportation of screenings, sludge, grit and solids.
Although they are weaker, shaftless type conveyors are more suitable to use in the transport of sticky materials which otherwise would possibly stick to the shaft and cause problems.
Shafted Screw Conveyors
Shafted screw conveyors are mostly not suitable to use in wastewater treatment industry due to their incapability of conveying fibrous and sticky material.
However in other industries it might be a viable choice because of their potential higher maximum length and higher torque output.
